Big B's screen son, daughter share special bond in real life

Young actors Aahana Kumra and Pavail Gulati, who played Amitabh Bachchan's children from his two marriages in the serial Yudh (Sony Entertainment Television), have a real life sibling bonding between them.

In fact, Aahana says she is as close to Pavail as she is to her own brother.

"When Pavail came to Mumbai from Delhi, I was his first friend. He and I studied together and we depend on one another for advice and support," she said, adding that even his family is like her own.

"When I go to Delhi I stay in his place," she said.

Aahana even ties a rakhi to Pavail like she does to her own brother.

"From the time he came to Mumbai, we've been like family. I am the only family he has in Mumbai. He looks after me and I look after him," she said.

The two actors have often worked together on stage, and have now worked on the small screen too.

"Since we spend so much time together we end up fighting like all normal siblings. I wasn't surprised when I ended up playing Pavail's stepsister in 'Yudh'. I just wish we had more scenes together," she said.

"Yudh", which marked Amitabh's foray into fiction on TV, has brought Aahana and Pavail even closer together.

"I think we make a great team. I hope we get more opportunities to work together," Aahana said.

Indian audience not mature enough to accept Yudh: Kay Kay Menon

Amitabh Bachchan's Yudh (Sony Entertainment Television) has flopped and how. Despite the presence of acting heavyweights of Bollywood, TRPs of Yudh has consistently remained at an all time low. Amitabh had earlier told us that he doesn't understand TRPs and their way of functioning unlike box-office figures.

While Amitabh may not have accepted Yudh's failure on the small screen, Kay Kay Menon who plays an important role in the fiction series chooses to blame the Indian audience and their sensibilities for the low TRPs. Ask Kay Kay about what went wrong with Yudh, the actor says, " When the audiences become right nothing will go wrong. Indian television audience is not mature enough to accept Yudh."

Adding on why he thinks audience and their sensibilities need to change, Kay Kay says, "When the same rotten paratha is served to someone year after year, all of a sudden when a change in their taste arrives, it shocks them. Tell me if Yudh is bad as compared to other serials running on television. If you show me that the content is bad, I will accept it. But that is not the case here. We need to make and show serials like Yudh before audience starts accepting them."

Kay Kay also believes that if audience is the king they cannot be absolved from their responsibility of not watching good content.

Well, strong words there from Kay Kay on Indian audience and their sensibilities.

What Amitabh Bachchan thinks about Yudh's TRPs...

Amitabh Bachchan's Yudh on Sony Entertainment Television hasn't exactly set the small screen ablaze. The fiction series which was launched amidst immense fanfare has had a sluggish start with ratings oscillating from average to low and the only silver lining being the legendary actor's performance who continues to be the biggest draw in an otherwise tepid series. Needless to say, Yudh certainly has been a colossal disappointment hitherto.

When we asked Amitabh if he was happy with the response received, the superstar actor opted to travel down the diplomatic route.

"My work for Yudh is over now. And I believe that an actor should never be satisfied with his work. Personally, I try and see that I do good work."

Elaborating on the TRPs which evidently has not been on the higher side, Amitabh said, "I don't have much idea about television's TRPs. In case of films, the weekend numbers tell us whether the film is a hit or flop. For television, you have TRPs which I don't understand much. I just do my work and go back. Now it's for you all to decide whether the work that I have done is right or wrong. Sahi hua toh aapko main namaskar karoonga aur galat hua toh bhi main namaskar karoonga."

Well, let's hope Yudh picks up pace in the coming days.
