I just packed my bags and came to Mumbai for two days: Shivya Pathania
Actress Shivya Pathania talks about her journey from Shimla to Mumbai and becoming an actress.
Pretty actress Shivya Pathania who has made her acting debut with Sony TV's newly launched show Humsafars as Arzoo Naushin Khan hails from Shimla.
It was Shivya's dream to act and her strong desire of becoming an actress that made Shivya come to Mumbai from Shimla but it wasn't a smooth journey for her.
In a candid chat with her, we asked her about the journey from Shimla to Mumbai and from being an engineer to an actress.
Shivya says, "My passion was to act. Acting is that kind of love for me which is above all. I have been taking part actively in all the co-curricular activities happening in my school and college. I always wanted to be ahead in this field. I had won Miss Shimla title 2013 which was organized through Miss India. I always wanted to work in the creative field. I wanted to prove to my family that you all think that this field is not good then it's not like that. I will always keep trying for that. There have been many times that I used to have a conflict with my family when they used to ask me to do a job as an engineer instead of getting into the field of acting. I had faith in myself but I didn't know that God will listen to me so soon. I feel that a lot of girls will connect to me."
"An engineer by profession, Shivya has worked hard for her dreams. We asked Shivya about how she got into the field of acting as Arzoo. She shares, "I would call myself lucky but at the same time I feel that God must have seen my hard work while I was in Shimla and then living in Delhi and working there. It was my dream to come to Mumbai which was very far. One day I was just in my home's lobby in Shimla. Then I got a call that I have to come to Mumbai for a look test. I thought that why me when there are so many beautiful girls? Then Kanchan ma'am came to Shimla and she said that she will take me to Mumbai. So, I just packed my bag and came to Mumbai for two days thinking I will see Mumbai as there might be a lot of hard work is waiting for me."
She further adds, "I came to Mumbai and gave a look test which was liked by everyone - Gul ma'am, Gorky sir and the channel. They told me that they saw the Arzoo they were looking for in Shivya and I also feel that they might have because even I have taken the responsibilities of my family in my life and have come to Mumbai to pursue my dream of acting similar to Arzoo, who comes to Mumbai from Lucknow to become a fashion designer. Arzoo is close to my heart and I feel that a lot of girls will get to learn a lot from her. The story of the show is all about two incomplete people who will complete each other and the viewers will enjoy watching the show."
Good luck Shivya!

Payal Rohatgi set to make television fiction debut with Sony TV's Humsafars
The sexy and seductive actresses, known for their histrionics in reality shows, seem to be going in for a change, by taking up fiction shows on Indian television. After Monica Bedi portrayed the powerful character of Gumaan in Saraswatichandra, it is now the turn of Payal Rohatgi to take up a challenging role in a show.
Yes, Payal has been finalized to play the negative lead in 4 Lions Films' new show Humsafars, to launch on Sony Entertainment Television from 22 September.
As per a source, Payal has replaced actress Tanvi Thakkar at the last minute. Tanvi had in fact started shoot, but then came a new development. Tanvi apparently did not match the ‘glamourous’ expectations of the creatives, which was needed to do justice to the role.
Now, instead of Tanvi, Payal will be playing bhabhi to the male lead Sahir (Harshad Chopda). It will be a powerful role and out and out negative. She will be working with Sahir in his fashion house, Saiyaara.
Furthermore, Actor Vishal Nayak will be playing the role of Sahir's brother.
When contacted, Payal confirmed the news to us saying, "Yes, television's reach today is growing by leaps and bounds. And I have been contemplating taking up a good powerful role in fiction space, something different from the reality shows I have done earlier. Yes, I am doing Humsafars, playing the negative lead. It is a very challenging role."
We tried contacting Producer Gul Khan, but did not get through to her.
We hear that Payal will sport a hot and sensational look in the serial.
Are you ready to watch Payal's fiction debut with Humsafars?

I was lost in my own small world during my sabbatical: Harshad Chopra
Popular actor Harshad Chopra marks his return to television with Sony TV’s Humsafars. The actor talks about his show, his character and much more in this conversation…
Television's heartthrob Harshad Chopra who was last seen in Life OK's Dil se di dua.Saubhagyavati Bhava? is all set to make a comeback to the screens after a long sabbatical. His fans are elated and rejoicing his return on the small screen with Sony TV's Humsafars.
The actor will be seen in different look and in different character from what he has played earlier. We spoke to Harshad to know more about his character, his shooting experience so far and we also asked him as what kept him busy during his sabbatical in this exclusive chat.
Tell us something about your character?
I am playing Sahir Azim Chaudhary who is someone who is always more than what he appears to be. He is someone who is bound by strong contrasting emotions. He is like day and night co-existing; he someone who is holding a whole havoc inside him but appears to be calm. He is someone who might be a child from within and has developed a defense mechanism for himself to protect the child inside and that's why he is always more than what he appears to be.
Can you relate yourself to the character?
Yes, A lot. He is very hard working, he is somewhere much focused, he is running but that depends upon our perspective of looking at him whether he is running for something or he is running towards something or because he is running away from something, he is running towards something. Different things sounds similar and this is how the character is - its complex, its layered, its dark, its well edged out, it's well written and its well thought of. We all have a past and sometimes we just sit and look back to our past. Life and situations change you and Sahir is somebody with whom life has been unfair and cruel.
The show is based upon a Muslim backdrop so you must have done some preparations for your Urdu diction by attending some workshops?
The best part about the show is that it's a universal show. If a person won't know about the character being a Muslim then the person won't realize while watching it because they speak and talk like everybody else. Even Sahir Chaudhary, the name doesn't sound like a Muslim. Like every character is given a name, we have been given a culture which is Muslim. So, it's a universal show.
What made you opt for the show?
It's a good show and the very first time when I heard about the show, I felt like doing it because I felt like I will enjoy doing it and people will like it. They are very good people to work with.
How has been your experience shooting in Lucknow?
Shooting in Lucknow has been fun. Whether we were shooting there or not but just being there was fun. We were having a tight schedule here so it was like a picnic for us there. Lucknow is a very nice place and I like good fragrances of perfumes which is available in varieties over there. Non vegetarian people will really enjoy Lucknow but I used to get stuck when it comes to enjoying the delicacies but it because I might have not explored it well. People of Lucknow are so open in life like they love to sing, they love to do Karaoke sessions, and they love to play football. Somewhere we lose all this but they still do it. The way they celebrate Diwali, Eid, Christmas or any other festival in Lucknow sets a perfect example of Unity in Diversity.
How is it working with Shivya Pathania, who is a newbie?
It doesn't feel like she is a newbie. She is already mingled well with all of us on the sets. We thought that being a newcomer she will take some time to be ready for everything but she just came and is all set for everything (smiles).
Is she taking any guidance from you?
No, I am taking guidance from her. I can't teach anybody about anything. She is confident and she doesn't appear to be a newcomer. There is a lot of freshness about the way she goes about things and that's what something I observe and try to pick it up in me.
Your look is very different from the characters you have played earlier...
I always try to be different. I am not really like somebody who can sit at home. When I wasn't working, I was still working as I was preparing. If I am working towards something, then I am working towards something otherwise, I am a person who likes to learn about so many things, I want to be perfect in things which I already know. I always want more; more of knowledge, more of perfection with what I already know. If I wouldn't have been doing what I was doing in the past 2 years then Sahir wouldn't have been looking like this or I shouldn't have been Sahir today. It's like a reward. I was just doing it without having any goal and I think that God has rewarded me.
What you were busy with?
When you get time then it's the time when you think and when we are continuously running then we don't even realize as when you stop thinking, when you lose yourself, when you forget yourself and your forget small little things about yourself. A break helps in having a fresh perspective about things. Having done so many shows, I am feeling like it's my first show and at the same time I am having a experience of doing 7 shows already. I am quite excited now.
During your sabbatical, you were away from the media as well...
I was lost in my own small little world. I think I was in that space from where I didn't want to come out. That is how I am and I tend to get into my own den for some time.
In the middle of the break, you also became active on social media. How did that happen?
Sometimes you think and realize about things you want to do. Sometimes, our thoughts change with time. It's not like that whatever I think is wrong or right; it's just about feeling the need and not feeling the need of anything. So, this is how it happened.
How has been the response from your fans so far?
So far it's so good and I am happy the way things have been received. I don't know whether they are loving my new look or what but I know that they are happy. They are in a happy space now.

We want Humsafars to be a contemporary love story with a slight classical feel to it: Gorky M
We in conversation with the producer Gorky of Sony TV's upcoming love saga Humsafars.
After creating the magic of romance on-screen with their popular shows like Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?, Geet Hui Sabse Parayi and Qubool Hai, the makers of these shows are all set to enthrall viewers with their another love saga with Sony TV's Humsafars. The story is going to revolve around the lives of two different individuals who complete each other.
We spoke to the producer Gorky M from 4 Lions Films to know more about the concept of the show and about his future plans in this conversation.
Tell us something about the concept of the show.
The story is all about two incomplete people who are like pieces of a puzzle. They complete each other. The show is about their journey and about them trying to discover, recognize and finally accept each other.
How did the idea originate?
Basically the idea originates as you read so many love stories and love is a universal constant emotion. We were finding out different ways of telling a love story. While at the same time, we also wanted to create certain character like a strong and a mature girl who wants to do something for her family. So, we decided to put this character into a love story. That is how it bloomed.
Who all are going to be the target audience for the show?
We really don't bother about things like target audience. We create certain content and try to do it to the best we can. I think each calls for its own target audience. I feel that our shows are largely being watched by the youngsters. Not only youngsters but our shows are being watched by the different age groups as well. Mostly the people who are interested in love and romance watch our show.
How are the characters of Harshad Chopra and Shivya Pathania going to be like?
Harshad's character is of a silent man who is living with a lot of pain and he is trying to forget who he was. He is doing a lot of things to forget that why he is into so much pain because of his past. He meets this girl who actually reminds him of the way he used to be. He is thinking that this girl's dreams are going to crash because of all her innocence and purity. Unknowing to him, the girl's interaction with him starts changing him back to the person he was before.
Tell us something about the role of the parrot in the show.
She is going to be a member of Arzoo's house and for her role, you will have to watch the show (smiles). Everybody loves her. Now, everything depends upon her acting skills. She needs to sharpen her acting skills if she wants her role to increase (laughs).
As the show is going to be a love story, viewers expect the love blooming in the show little faster. What can we expect from this; will the love bloom gradually or it will be quick?
Fast is no fun. Romance has to be slow so the love will happen slowly.
We have also heard that a lot of outdoor shoots have happened? How was the experience there?
We had gone to Lucknow. We had a crazy schedule in Lucknow. We have also done outdoor shoots in Mumbai at different locations. The weather was very hot in Lucknow and we had to shoot a rain sequence there. It was quite tough shooting that there but it was a wonderful experience.
What kind of challenges you have come across while making the show?
We started of with this show in the middle of the monsoon when it was raining a lot. That was the biggest production challenge. In terms of the creative challenge, we were trying to walk to that fine line between classic and contemporary. We want this to be a contemporary love story with a slight classical feel to it. We didn't want this to be too classic or too contemporary that it looses its charm. So, this has been a challenge for us.
The time slot is bit late. So, do you see this as a challenge?
Its a decision taken by the channel after they had seen the content. Since it their area of expertise, so I leave it to them as they are the best judge.
There have been lots of speculations about Qubool Hai going off-air...
There were some speculations and I don't know from where these rumors cropped up. The show is doing well in terms of the ratings and for the channel as well. Lots of exciting things are going to happen in the future tracks of the show. Lots of exciting things are going to come up.
What kinds of shows you are looking forward to make?
We are looking forward to make all kinds of shows. We are looking forward to make sit com, romances, thrillers. We are not expertise in making saas bahu sagas. We are happy doing love stories, thrillers and drama.
Your future plans?
We have got different kinds of shows pitched to different channels. Let's see which channel decides to move forward with that first. This is the 3rd show which we are doing after Qubool Hai. Once this show goes on-air, we will see if any channel likes the concepts that we have pitched to them.
What are your plans to get into movies?
Hopefully that will happen sometime soon. We are not desperate to make films; we are desperate to tell stories and television is providing us that medium. We are extremely happy doing television. Films will happen when they will have to.

Sony TV launches Humsafars
One a vivacious, lively, talented girl from Lucknow, the other an intense and complicated ruthless business tycoon! What happens when destiny entwines their lives together? Affirming the saying that opposites attract, Sony Entertainment Television's latest offering is a beautiful love story of two contrasting individuals – Humsafars. Premiering on 22 September at 10:30 pm, Humsafars chronicles the lives of a budding fashion designer Arzoo Nausheen Khan and a multimillionaire owner of a fashion house Sahir Chaudhary.
Set against a Muslim backdrop, Humsafars is a heart-tugging story of two opposites. Arzoo who is from Lucknow comes to Mumbai to fulfill her dreams of becoming a fashion designer and ends up working for Sahir who owns a fashion house, Sayaara. What follows is an intense love story between two imperfect and contrasting individuals and what happens when their worlds collide. While Arzoo believes that with family’s love and hard work you can achieve anything, Sahir thrives on power and money and will not stop at anything to achieve what he wants. However, destiny has different plans for them and how the yin and the yang find true love in each other is what makes Humsafars an unconventional love story.
Speaking about the show, Virendra Shahaney, Creative Director - Fiction Programming, Sony Entertainment Television said, “Humsafars is an unconventional love story set against a fashion backdrop. It sheds light on how two completely different people come together owing to situations and find love in each other. With this show, we further fulfill our promise of presenting unique and entertaining programming content which is traditional yet modern.”
Gul Khan, Producer, 4 Lions Films said, "Humsafars is a love story of 2 imperfect people who are perfect for each other. It's a pleasure working with SET after 12 years! I directed Shaheen on the channel last! Working with Ajay again is a great opportunity.”
Making her debut with the role of Arzoo Nausheen Khan is the young and talented Shivya Pathania and portraying the suave and intimidating Sahir Chaudhary will be the handsome Harshad Chopda. Other star cast includes talented actors like Vibha Chibber, Sehban Azim, Madhumalti, Purva Parag among others.

Harshad Chopda enjoys loyal fan following
Actor Harshad Chopda's time away from television didn't seem to have any effect on his fan following, especially girls. In fact, it has only grown with time.
And it was apparent at the launch of his new TV show “Humsafars” in Lucknow recently where his overwhelmed fans thronged Harshad.
The actor's macho look which he has accentuated with a beard for his role of a fashion mogul in Sony TV's upcoming show is not only winning hearts, but is also fetching a positive response.
Harshad was last seen in Life OK's “Dil Se Di Dua - Saubhagyavati Bhava”.
