"Nandita Mehra is my best friend in the industry" - Sangeeta
Gearing up for her comeback next week, Sangeeta Ghosh talks about her best friend in the industry on the occasion of Friendship Day which is tomorrow.
Even as she is busy shooting for 'Jee Le Zara' on Sony TV, Sangeeta Ghosh talks about the special friendship she shares with director - producer Nandita Mehra. She also shares her opinion on the current social networking craze and how she herself keeps in touch with her friends the old fashioned way.
"I remember I first met Nandita Mehra on the sets of Mehendi Tere Naam Ki and we have been friends ever since. She was very, very good on the show and made everyone feel comfortable. We went on to do more serials and were regularly doing serials like Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand and Rabba Ishq Na Hove together.
We were shooting together so much and for a long time so the friendship deepened and we became good friends. There were others too in the group who were close to us as we all were in regular touch with the crew and spend a lot of time on the sets.
I remember when I had started shooting for Mehendi Tere Naam Ki, I didn't have a car so Nandita used to pick up and drop me and couple of other girls! She would make all the girls on the sets feel so special and comfortable. Nandita is an amazing person and great to have as a friend.
I am not active on the social media and not savvy at all in these matters. I am not on Facebook or Twitter and feel that one doesn't have to be on these sites to make or maintain friends. I don't even like to message people, I would rather pick up the phone and talk to someone to stay in touch. I would like to go and meet that person to know what is happening in his or her life. So after my marriage and despite being away from the industry, I was in regular touch with Nandita and some other common friends. We used to have get-together s and had a good time over lunches and dinners. I believe that once the relation is formed, maintaining it is not difficult.
I have seen Nandita grow in her career too. She was assisting Aroonaji (Aroona Irani) during Mehendi Tere… and rose to the position of an associate director to a director and now she is a producer too. I am very proud of her. In fact, there were talks last year that I will make a comeback with a show that was to be produced by Nandita's production house 24 Frames but that did not happen. Due to some reason that project was put on hold and so when 'Jee Le Zara' came to me I took it up. However, whenever that show happens I would love to do it.
Nandita is busy as a producer now… she has grown in her career and we can't meet much but we still meet up once in a way and keep in touch! She is my best friend in the industry and I thank God for giving me such a lovely friend!"
